For a long time, Wellbe Sakae was known as a “sanctuary for men.” But in 2023, it underwent a massive renovation and evolved into a facility for everyone. With a newly built Women’s Area and a Gender-Mixed Sauna Theater, it is now the hottest spot in Nagoya where couples and friends can enjoy sauna culture together. Here is your guide to the three unique zones of the new Wellbe Sakae.
1. For Men: The Legendary “Arctic” Experience (2F)
The 2nd floor remains the classic “Men’s Sanctuary.” It offers a hardcore Finnish experience.
- The Ice Sauna: A freezer room kept at -25°C (-13°F). Inside, there is an ice-water bath (approx. 3°C). Diving into this after a hot sauna creates an adrenaline rush you can’t find anywhere else.
- Forest Sauna (Mori no Sauna): A quiet, dimly lit room where you can enjoy Self-Löyly (pouring water on stones). It feels exactly like a lakeside sauna hut in Finland.
2. For Women: The “Forest House” (3F)
Ladies, welcome to Wellbe! The new 3rd-floor area is designed specifically for women.
- KIRIKABU Sauna: A unique sauna shaped like a giant tree stump. It has a gentle warmth and a relaxing aroma.
- Herbal Cold Bath: Unlike the men’s freezing bath, this is a specialized cold bath focused on herbal scents and comfort. It is a stylish, clean, and safe space equipped with high-quality amenities (like ReFa dryers), making it perfect for female travelers.
3. For Everyone: “Sauna Theater Nagoya” (3F)
This is the highlight of the renovation. The Sauna Theater is a massive sauna room where men and women can enter together (wearing special facility gowns).
- Aufguss Shows: This isn’t just sitting in a hot room. “Aufguss Masters” perform exciting towel-waving shows with music and lights. It is entertainment, not just a bath!
- Relax Together: After the show, you can cool down in the “Snow Mountain” area or relax at the “Sauna Bar” with your partner or friends.

My Verdict
Wellbe Sakae has successfully evolved from a strict “men-only sanctuary” into a sauna theme park for everyone. While the Ice Sauna is famous, my absolute personal favorite is the “Stretch Löyly.” Unlike a typical quiet sauna, the staff guides the whole room through stretching exercises while pouring water on the stones. Moving your body in the intense steam helps you sweat incredibly fast and feels like a refreshing “hot yoga” session. Whether you are a solo traveler seeking the “classic” experience or a couple enjoying the new Theater, this place is a must-visit in Nagoya.
